Job Title Cryogenics and Vacuum Engineer (KFEU, Germany-based)
Job summary We are recruiting a Cryogenics and Vacuum Engineer who, as a Mechanical Engineer, has an excellent understanding of how to design vacuum/cryogenic equipment to specification.

You will work closely with a CAD team to execute iterative workflows. Your role will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and optimisation of vacuum systems and cryogenic equipment used in fusion applications. In this context, you ensure system integrity, thermal performance, safety compliance, and reliable operation of vacuum instrumentation operating in a wide range of rarefaction.
Job description You will design and develop high vacuum and ultra-high vacuum systems, evaluate system performance and implement improvements.

In addition, you will design cryogenic systems under liquid helium as well as liquid hydrogen temperatures and develop cryogenic piping, insulation, and thermal management solutions to maintain target temperatures. Furthermore, your responsibilities include the integration of cryogenic systems with vacuum environments for cold traps and cryopumping.
Essential requirements • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or PhD in a related science/engineering discipline
• More than 5 years’ experience with engineering and design of vacuum systems (flanges, gaskets, material selection)

Job Title Electrical Instrumentation and Control Engineer (KFEU, Germany-based)
Job summary We are recruiting an Electrical Instrumentation and Control Engineer who, as a process engineer, has assembled significant experience in instrumentation and control.

You are able to understand the requirements of the process on the instrumentation and also select the instrumentation itself. You will support the design, integration and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for small‑scale and experimental process setups. Your role bridges process engineering requirements with practical electrical and instrumentation solutions - covering everything from engineering design to hardware procurement, controlling cabinet development, and PLC programming. The role can be executed by either an engineer or a technician, in both cases with experience using industrial standard equipment. You will work closely with other process engineers to understand system requirements and ensure seamless integration of sensors, actuators, and control hardware into cohesive, compliant control systems.
Job description You will design and specify instrumentation for small‑scale or experimental systems, including sensors (analogue 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, digital), actuators, valves, motor drives, electrical heaters, etc.

In addition, you will develop system integration concepts ensuring compatibility with overall control architecture and create I&C documentation such as wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and control logic descriptions.

Your tasks will include control cabinet & electrical engineering, the selection of industrial‑standard components and the preparation of technical drawings and panel layouts. You will ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and standards and develop technical specifications for hardware procurement (PLCs, controllers, HMIs, power supplies, cabling, instrumentation).

Job summary We are recruiting a Business Development and Public Relations Manager that will have a strong focus on multi-national government affairs to accelerate our growth in Europe’s fusion energy sector.

Based in Karlsruhe, you will play a critical and leading role in initiating and developing opportunities arising from the EU’s and Germany’s increased investment in fusion technologies. You will proactively build and enhance relationships with government agencies in Germany and EU, key private companies, and research institutions, ensuring our company is visible and well-positioned for funding and partnerships. Core responsibilities include creating the strategy for government affairs in KFEU as well as identifying opportunities, writing grant proposals, managing tender submissions, and representing our company at conferences and industry events. Essential skills include policy analysis, stakeholder engagement and management, strategic relationship building, proposal and grant writing, and coordination of tender bid submissions. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong networking abilities, native in German and fluent in English, and ideally bring prior experience and existing connections within government circles.
Job description You will represent the company at industry events and government forums. You will negotiate partnership agreements and manage stakeholder relationships as well as identify and pursue business opportunities with public and private stakeholders.

Besides leading grant and subsidy applications for R&D and industrial projects, you will coordinate the preparation and submission of tenders and negotiate and review contracts, track sales performance and provide insights to senior management. Additionally, your tasks include monitoring and tracking sales performance and pipeline development to assist with resource planning. You will build relationships with government officials and lead advocacy efforts to position our company at the forefront of industry advancement. You may also be assigned other responsibilities as reasonably required by management.

Your area of accountability will include obtaining new projects or funding schemes to contribute to revenue generation, the management and preparation of effective bids that lead to the award of tenders/projects, contract sales up to €10 million and yearly sales budget of €1 million to €5 million.

Essential requirements • At least 5 years’ experience in government affairs/business development in technical industries (energy, aerospace, advanced materials)
• Familiarity with EU funding mechanisms and industrial policy
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in writing bids for consultancy projects in both public sector tenders and grant funding
• Proven track record of success in business development, sales or strategic partnerships within the engineering or technology sector, preferably in nuclear fusion or a related industry

Based in Karlsruhe, you will manage multiple projects, ensuring timeline, budget and quality requirements are met. Through effective management of all project stakeholders, you will also make sure that scope and budget creep are minimised, and information is shared in an effective and timely manner. By applying project management methodologies, you will ensure that project outcomes support our organisational goals, deliver value to our customers and drive continuous improvement.
Job description You will be engaged in leading and managing engineering projects in the fusion sector, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery while meeting quality and safety standards. After fully understanding project final goals including key design requirements, you will develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope of work, schedules, resource allocation, risk management and budget forecasting.

In addition, you will prepare project reports and presentations and act as the single point of contact between the client and supply chain. You will collaborate with internal teams, including design, manufacturing and quality assurance, manage the relationship with key partners and suppliers and ensure that KF's quality management approach is adhered to within the supply chain. Besides co-ordinating with engineering teams to ensure designs meet all required safety and regulatory standards, you will act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory authorities and internal teams and create and maintain essential project management documentation such as RAID logs, deliverable register, change control etc.

As part of your work, international travel (including Japan) may be required.
