Use Cases

Addressing Challenges in the Fuel Cycle

Challenge

Solution

  • Oil-contaminated exhaust gases require costly treatment and maintenance.

An oil-free design eliminates concerns about contamination from rotary vane pumps.

  • Tritium leakage must be minimized as much as possible.

Helium leak rates are as low as 1×10−9 - 1×10−8 Pa·m³/s. Models with integrated helium leak detection sensors are also available.

  • Limited installation space requires equipment to perform multiple functions.

Can be used for vacuum pumping, circulation, and compression, enabling efficient operation with a compact footprint.

Key Attributes

Built for Tritium Service

  1. All-metal construction prevents gas from leaking to the outside. (Helium leak rate 1×10−9 - 1×10−8 Pa·m³/s)

  2. The bellows and reed valves that contact the gas do not wear, and do not contaminate the fuel gas.

  3. Stainless steel is used. The gaskets are aluminum O-rings, for an all-metal seal design..

  4. The design keeps operating stress below the fatigue limit of the materials, so performance is maintained over a long service life.

  5. Explosion-proof motors, variable-speed drives, special voltages, double bellows, and alternative gasket materials are available.
