Kyoto Fusioneering has been selected for the J-Startup program promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
Kyoto Fusioneering Ltd – a fusion reactor technology company, based in Kyoto, Japan – has been selected as one of 50 most promising startups for the prestigious J-Startup program promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The J-Startup program was launched in June 2018 to help startups expand in the global market. The program is run by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Its mission is to create successful, cutting-edge Japanese startups that bring value to the world.
Startups are selected by a strict examination from external experts such as top-venture capitalists, and representatives from large corporations responsible for innovation.The J-Startup program has been involved in a variety of initiatives, such as assisting in exhibiting large-scale overseas and domestic events, overseas local support, R&D support, responding to regulatory reforms, expanding bidding opportunities, and supporting collaboration with the private sector. In the third round of J-startup selection, 50 startups in deep tech and SDGs (sustainable development goals) oriented such as medical, DX, environment, mobility, space, etc. were selected out of 10 000 applications as new “J-Startup companies”. Through participation in this program, KF aims to establish its technology as an industry standard in Japan and overseas and to establish its brand as a deep-tech company that addresses environmental and energy issues. The J-Startup program will support the KF competitive strategy for long term competitive position and success in its effort to realize fusion energy.
