From February 25 to 27, Munich became a vibrant gathering point for the global fusion community as FusionX:Global brought together more than 400 decision makers from fusion companies, supply chain leaders, investors, and public sector partners. The energy and excitement across the venue reflected one thing clearly: the momentum behind fusion is accelerating worldwide.
This year’s event was especially meaningful for Kyoto Fusioneering (KF). For the first time, we co-sponsored the event with Fusion Fuel Cycles Inc. (FFC)—a joint venture between Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) and KF—and highlighted our latest innovations in tritium fuel cycle technology.
In this blog, we share impressions from the week, along with moments captured at the venue.
KF Participated in an Inspiring Kickoff Event Organized by Proxima Fusion
On February 24, we were delighted to take part in the launch event of the Alpha Alliance , an industrial consortium uniting more than 30 leading European and international companies. The Alliance aims to deliver Alpha, a stellarator-based net-energy-gain fusion demonstrator—an ambitious, forward-looking initiative led by Proxima Fusion, one of Europe’s fastest growing fusion companies.
The kick‑off event not only celebrated this milestone but also served as a platform for companies like ours to share how we are enabling the realization of fusion energy through engineering, innovation, and collaboration.

Engaging Conversations with Global Fusion Stakeholders
Throughout the day, KF and FFC’s joint booth became a lively meeting point where industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers gathered to discuss the future of fusion, the importance of fuel cycle technologies, and the role of industrial partnerships in accelerating deployment.

In the afternoon of the first day, Yuhei Nozoe, Co-CEO of FFC and KF’s Head Business in Plant Technology, and Christian Day, KF’s Senior Vice President of Plant Technology, joined a panel titled: “Supply Chain/Critical Tech: Fuel Cycle.”
Alongside representatives from AtkinsRéalis and Oxford Sigma, they discussed:
- Technical challenges across the fusion fuel cycle
- Innovations in tritium breeding and waste management
- How robust supply chain readiness derisks investment and strengthens confidence in the commercial path to fusion
The session highlighted how essential it is to scale enabling technologies in parallel with fusion concepts.

Insightful Discussions on Scaling Fusion Technologies
On the second day of FusionX:Global, Yuhei represented KF at the Europe-Japan Fusion Forward Forum, joining panelists from Fujikura Europe and Proxima Fusion.
The theme (“Investments to Scale Up Fusion Technologies”) sparked meaningful dialogue around:
- The importance of international collaboration
- The need for sustained investment in enabling technologies
- How industry, government, and academia can jointly accelerate commercialization
The conversation reinforced a shared belief that fusion would not be achieved by individual companies alone—it will take a global ecosystem working together

FusionX:Global was a powerful reminder of how rapidly the fusion landscape is evolving—and how essential it is for companies like us to engage with partners across the ecosystem.
“It’s an exciting time for the fusion industry. KF and FFC are working to support the development of a strong industry backbone, and our focus on deployable blanket and fuel cycle solutions reflects the needs that we are hearing across the sector. ”— Cherry Gao, Senior Specialist at Business Development and Operations Division
“Events like FusionX:Global show that fusion is moving from scientific ambition to industrial reality—and KF is clearly one of the companies driving that transition.”— Tim Teichmann, Senior Fusion Engineer at Plant Technology Division
We look forward to continuing these conversations at upcoming FusionX events and other opportunities around the world!
